The horned frog inflates a throat sac 4 times its size

In the jungles of South America lives the horned frog Pac-Man - round as a ball, with a big mouth and two funny "horns" above the eyes. It looks like a cute toy. But it has one crazy ability - it inflates its throat sac to incredible sizes.

When a male wants to find a mate, he starts screaming. But to make his voice carry far through the dense jungle, he fills a special throat sac with air. And this sac inflates to a size four times larger than the frog itself! Imagine a tiny frog the size of an orange, and under its chin it has a giant ball, like a soccer ball.

This sac acts as a sound amplifier. A frog's croaking sound becomes so loud that it can be heard a kilometer away! To the tiny amphibian, it's like thunder from heaven.

Interestingly, horned frogs are real ambush hunters. They burrow into the leaves and wait. Their mouth is so big that they can swallow another frog, a mouse, and even a small snake! They say: "If something moves and fits in your mouth, swallow it." Because of such gluttony, they were called "Pacmans" - in honor of the character from the game.

And the horned frog has a suction cup on its tongue that is 30 times stronger than glue. A frog weighing 95 grams can hold a load of 1.5 kilograms with its tongue!

Small, round, funny - and at the same time one of the coolest hunters in the rainforest. Never judge by appearance.
