At the edge of the world stood the Whispering Forest, where fireflies floated like tiny lanterns and the mushrooms glowed softly in the dusk. Everyone said the forest was magical, but only the kind ever saw its wonders.
A curious little fox named Sorrel wanted to see the magic for himself. So one evening, he stepped softly between the ferns, his eyes wide with wonder.
Along the way, he found a firefly caught in a spider’s silk. Gently, Sorrel freed it. A little further on, he lifted a fallen leaf from a tired snail, and helped a lost beetle find its path home.
With every kind deed, the forest seemed to glow a little brighter. The fireflies gathered around him. The mushrooms shone like little moons. Even the old trees seemed to lean closer to listen.
At the heart of the forest, the fireflies swirled into a shimmering dance, just for him. Sorrel had never seen anything so beautiful in all his life.
“Why did you show me your magic?” he whispered. And the soft wind seemed to answer: because you were kind along the way.
Sorrel returned home with stars in his eyes. He understood now that the forest kept its greatest wonders for those who cared for the small and gentle things.
Good night, little one. Dream of glowing forests, and let kindness light your path.
