Zlata's room resembled a storm that forgot to end. Pencils were everywhere \u2014 on the floor, under the bed, one was even stuck between the pillows. The dress had been hanging on the back of a chair for the third day. The cubes were falling into the corner. The puzzle was lying open. Mom reminded her to clean up \u2014 morning, afternoon, evening. Zlata nodded and forgot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the evening, she crawled under the covers and reached out to Pooh, the soft gray bunny she fell asleep with every night. Her hand found an empty spot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cPooh?\u201d Zlata said aloud.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There was no fluff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They searched everywhere\u2014under the bed, between the pillows, behind the bedside table. Mom turned over the blanket. Zlata crawled under the chair. No one. Somewhere in the large pile of things that had accumulated over the week, a gray ear was hiding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Zlata sat on the floor and cried.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Two small figures moved on the windowsill. An owl with glasses and a squirrel with an acorn looked at her calmly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cCan\u2019t you find Pooh?\u201d Sophie asked quietly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

"He's somewhere in that pile," Zlata sobbed. "But there's so much there..."<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. Where there is order, there it is easy to find<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

When everything has its place, you always know where to look. Pencils are in a box. Bunny is on a pillow or on a shelf. Blocks are in a basket. But when everything is lying around, things seem to hide\u2014even if they have nowhere to go. They just drown in the mess. Like Pooh.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

2. Cleaning right away is much easier<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

When you're done playing with the blocks, put them back together. Right then. It takes a minute, maybe less. But if you put them back together later, the "later" piles up, and cleaning up isn't just a minute, it's a whole evening adventure with tears before bed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

"I once left an acorn for later," Solomiyka interjected, twirling hers in her paws. "Then I searched for a long time. It turned out to be in the pocket of my own scarf. But I searched for a very long time!"<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

3. Things cannot speak for themselves.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Pooh can't shout, "Honey, I'm here!" A pencil can't jump into a box. A dress can't crawl into a basket. Therefore, the one who uses them must be responsible for them. That's what responsibility is - not a scary word, just the habit of taking care of what's important to you.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

4. Clutter steals time and ruins your mood.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

When everything is not where it should be, you spend a lot of time searching. And you get nervous. And you cry before going to bed. And if there is order, this time is enough for playing, drawing, reading, jumping and something else delicious. Order is not boring. Order is free.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

"And by the way," said Solomiyka seriously, clutching the acorn to her chest, "if I know where my nuts are, I can run and play right away! Without a single extra step!"<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

5. Every thing deserves its place<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Down is important to Zlata. It helps her fall asleep, it's soft and warm. If something is important to you, it deserves a place where it feels good and is easy to find. It's like taking care of a friend: you don't just throw a friend around, right?<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

6. You can start right now \u2014 and even small.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

You don't have to clean the whole room to a shine at once. You can start with one corner. Or with one basket. Or simply - next time after the game, just put together the cubes. Each small step is a system that gradually grows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

"The main thing is to start!" Solomiyka jumped up on the windowsill with enthusiasm and adjusted her scarf. "Even one acorn in place is already a start!"<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

7. Lad is about taking care of yourself<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

When you have order, you feel calmer. You don't have to search, worry, or get nervous. You know where everything is, and you can just live \u2014 happily, without unnecessary hassle. Having things in order is a small gift that you give yourself.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Zlata got up. She took the nightlight and began to carefully sort through the pile, one item at a time. The doll was on the chair. The blocks were in the corner. The ball was in the corner. The puzzle box was on the shelf. The pile was getting smaller.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And then a gray ear. She whispered, "Pooh!" and grabbed the bunny. It was a little wrinkled, but warm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Zlata climbed into bed. "Tomorrow I'll put you on the pillow so you always know your place," she said quietly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The windowsill was empty, but the air shuddered, as if someone had just flown away. She smiled, closed her eyes, and was asleep in a minute.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
