Not just any cup — but a SPECIAL one. White, round, with a teddy bear on the side. The teddy bear held a small cup in its paw, as if it were drinking tea from it — and this made Dmitri very happy, because it turned out as if the cup was drinking itself.

The tea in this cup was always sweeter. Even when mom put less sugar in it. Even when she put green tea — which Dmitriy didn't really like. Everything was better in the bear cup.

Dmitri drank only from it. The other cups—ordinary, smooth, with flowers—were in the cupboard, but he didn't look there. He only needed the teddy bear.

One Saturday, Dmitrik was drinking his morning cocoa. The cup was standing on the very edge of the table. He reached for the sandwich, his elbow caught the edge, and the cup slowly, as if in slow motion, slid down.

Dmitryk held out his hand. But it was too late.

«Clang!» he heard. And again: «Clang-clang-clang,» as the shards flew across the floor.

Dmitrik looked down. In the middle of a small puddle of cocoa lay pieces. One with a bear's paw. The second with its blue tail. The third with a small eye. The bear broke into seven pieces.

Dmitrik cried. He didn't just cry—he sobbed out loud. As if the world had ended. Because for him, at that moment, it had ended.

"Grandma!" he shouted through his tears. "Grandma, go!"

Grandma came from the store — she had just returned with a bag of vegetables. She put the bag on the table, threw off her sweater, and squatted down next to her grandson.

— What happened, Cossack?

"The cup..." Dmitrik pointed down. "It's broken. Forever.".

Grandma looked at the shards. She didn't sigh. She didn't say, "Well, what can you do?" She didn't offer to buy a new one. Instead, she smiled—mysteriously, as only she could.

"Don't cry, son," she said. "I'll show you a secret. A very old one. A very wise one.".

Dmitrik raised his tear-stained face.

— Which one?

"Let's go to the table. I'll tell you.".

She took a small broom and carefully gathered up all the shards. She didn’t lose a single one—not even the smallest one with the bear’s ear. She put them on a clean plate. Then she went to her room and came back with a tiny tube. It said: «Golden Glue.».

Dmitryk had never seen anything like this.

— Grandma, what is this?

"This is a special glue, my dear. It has real gold dust in it. Very, very small, but real.".

— Why?

Grandma sat down at the table, placed Dmitri next to her, and began to arrange the shards.

— You know, in Japan — far, far away across the sea — people do an unusual thing. When their favorite cup breaks, they don't throw it away. They don't buy a new one. They glue it back together. Only not with ordinary glue. But with this kind of glue — gold. And you know what's interesting? They don't hide the cracks. They don't patch them up imperceptibly. On the contrary — they emphasize them with gold. So that everyone can see: here it was broken. And here it is — it has grown back together again.

“Why?” Dmitrik listened, forgetting to cry.

— Because pain is part of history. If something has gone through pain and returned, it deserves beauty. Memory. Gold. The Japanese call it "kintsugi." Which means "golden seam.".

Dmitrik looked at his grandmother's hands. She was slowly gluing one shard to another. A thin golden line appeared between them, like a small star running along a crack.

It took time. Grandma was patient. She held each piece at an angle, waiting for the glue to dry. Dmitrik helped, supporting one shard while Grandma glued another. The kitchen smelled of golden glue—warm, metallic, unusual.

An hour later, the cup was... not the same as it was.

She became better.

The scars on it shone in thin golden lines. The bear now had a gold stripe on its side. A small gold star on its ear. A seam along the bottom. The cup seemed to blossom—not whole, but animated. It had a story.

Dmitrik looked at her for a long time. He couldn't take his eyes off her.

"Good," he whispered.

"Yes. Good. Try the tea.".

Grandma poured him tea — hot, with honey and lemon. Dmytryk raised the cup to his lips. And felt something strange.

The tea was even sweeter. Even more delicate. Even warmer than before.

"Grandma," he was surprised. "Why?"

Grandma smiled.

"Because now your cup has a story, my dear. And everything that has gone through pain and returned becomes more sincere.".

Dmitrik thought about it. He didn't fully understand—he was only six. But some feeling remained.

From then on, Dmytryk was never afraid when something broke. If a toy fell, he would say, "It's okay, we'll glue it back together with gold." If he hurt his knee, "It'll heal, there'll be a scar like my cup." If he had a fight with a friend, "We'll make up, only now with a gold stripe inside.".

The cup with the teddy bear stood on the shelf in a prominent place. And when his friends asked why it had such strange golden lines, Dmitriy always answered the same way:

"This is her story. And mine too.".

✨ Everything that has gone through pain and returned becomes more sincere ✨

Dmitrik broke his favorite cup with a teddy bear — and cried as if the world had ended.
